Spinal Adjustments: A very common and problematic disorder in the spinal column is known as vertebral subluxation. A chiropractic adjustment is a gentle, specific force put into the spine to restore joint function and alleviate pressure on the nerves and spinal cord. It is the most effective way to reduce or eliminate vertebral subluxation.
Spinal Traction: It is difficult to correct spinal structural configurations unless repetitive cervical traction is performed prior to adjustments. Repetitive cervical traction also remains a daily (office and/or home) activity during rehabilitation and correction of cervical and low back problems. This is important because of the affects it has on cervical and lumbar lordosis and lateral spine angle deviations that cause impedance on the cord tracts connected to the brain, low back, and legs. Traction increases motion to the vertebrae to rehydrate the disc for proper nourishment and elimination of waste materials.
Neuromuscular Re-education: Neuromuscular reeducation (NMR) is performed for the purpose of realigning the centers of mass of the head, trunk, and pelvis. During NMR the righting reflexes are engaged. The reflexes send new sensory input to the Central Nervous System. This causes some involved spinal muscles to relax and others to contract, thereby repositioning and rebalancing the spine.
